Lake Como is a wonderful area to discover on foot. From gentle strolls along the lakeside and picnics in picturesque villages and villas to more strenuous hikes up mountainous terrain with a private guide, the lake offers a whole host of unforgettable routes.

Lake Como Greenway

Discover the diverse personalities of the lake along the Greenway of Lake Como. Starting at Argegno and passing through Colonno, Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo and finishing at Griante-Cadenabbia, the route snakes along the lake and above the villages so you can discover all the facets of Como: enchanting hamlets, lake and country views, fine palaces and gardens. The route is divided into five stages, so you can either walk it all, or walk the parts that inspire you the most.

San Martino

Perching on the top of a rocky mountain, San Martino church looks as though it’s been dropped from the sky. Start your hike from the sumptuous interiors of the Grand Hotel and venture into the midst of unspoilt nature, feeling a sense of calm wash over you. Clamber to the peak and enjoy your reward: the most spectacular views.

Please allow your concierge 12 hours to organise the trip.

Sacro Monte di Ossuccio

Perched on a mountain crag on the western side of the lake, Sacro Monte di Ossuccio is a truly unique place of worship. Starting in Ossuccio, follow the stations of the cross up to the Sacro Monte to discover the spiritual atmosphere of UNESCO world heritage site, the church of Madonna del Soccorso. More experienced walkers can then continue the steep ascent to the Abbazia di San Benedetto on Val Perlana, a mystical site once inhabited by a hermit.

Please allow your concierge 12 hours to organise the trip.

Chilometro della Conoscenza

Starting in Como, the Chilometro della conoscenza flanks the western bank of the lake for just over a thousand metres. Only open on Sundays, the trail takes you on an exclusive discovery of a usually prohibited pleasure: the gardens of three of the most beautiful villas on the lake, Villa Olmo, Villa Sucota and Villa del Grumello. Take a gentle stroll, enjoy the contemporary art on display courtesy of the Ratti Foundation and catch glimpses of the blue lake waters.
