Bellagio
Thanks to its compact geological composition, during the last glacial era, the
promontory of Bellagio (Punta Spartivento) resisted to the glacier pression and
constricted it to divide itself and to cut two deep valleys on the East and on
the West so that the two arms of Como Lake, the Como arm and the Lecco one, formed.
This particular position allows an extraordinary panoramic variety.
Bellagio, well known as "the pearl of Como Lake", is a landscape and architectonical
jewel, characterized through the typical delicate colours of the houses, through
narrow and winding paths, often in the form of stairways, which lead to harmonious
small squares with arcades.
On the promenade you can find handicrafts and elegant shops and buy, besides
the typical souvenirs, jewels, clothes and precious silks.
Along the street, which crosses the built-up area, you can admire the beauties
of the ancient village and reach the nice square and the landing stage used for
boats, hydrofoils and ferry boats in order to transport cars from one lake shore
to the other.
Be sure to visit Villa Melzi garden
Distance: in front of the hotel, on the opposite shore.
Reachable from Tremezzo by boat or by hydrofoil and from Cadenabbia by ferryboat,
in ten minutes crossing.
